Doug Vining Control of the free web

Provide a free service, which you can then control. Isn't that the free market at work? Or is it going against the very spirit of the internet, where access to servers and information was given freely, except for service provider costs? An interesting perspective!

Doug Vining Facebook invades WiFi

Just announced is Facebook's new antenna array that can beam broadband well beyond the city limits. And we all know that, once the cost of the infrastructure is covered, the cost of bandwidth is negligible. Which is why, with the expansion of 4G, Fibre and now Super-WiFi, we can expect broadband to be uncapped, all the time. Mobile operators who still base their business models on charging for data by the gigabyte are heading for irrelevance. Access is what counts, not volume!

Anton Musgrave Quo Vadis for Mobile Operators?

We have been suggesting for a while that voice and data will soon be free...well in India it is upon us! Competitors of Jio, launched by the Ambani Group, saw share prices tumble today as the reality of free voice and very low cost data for life becomes a reality. Business models work until they don't...that moment has just arrived for Telco's.
