This new scanner is a great idea. The scanner correctly identifies foods and ingredients 97.7 percent of the time, according to the company. That's certainly good enough for most consumer's needs.

Of course, it doesn't do DNA level scanning, but at least you are warned about calories and chemicals!

Doug Vining Food scanner

This scanner doesn't do DNA testing, yet, but it's certainly a step in the right direction.
