Researchers are pinning their hopes on phages, microscopic organisms that consume bacteria like predators devour their prey. If phage therapy can be successfully developed to treat all types of bacterial infection, perhaps antibiotics will become obsolete in the future.

Doug Vining Could bugs in food cause an epidemic?

Let's hope this scenario does not fully materialize. If the healthcare industry could be crippled by contaminated food, that would be a disaster of epic proportions!
