Doug Vining The military would love this!

Imagine being able to 'beam' a warhead directly into an enemy HQ from a thousand miles away. The possibilities are mind-boggling.

Doug Vining Huge economic impact

This scenario might seem a little fanciful, but if teleportation of even basic commodities such as food and water ever became feasible, the economic consequences would be staggering.

Dawid Bosman Teleportation

Even in my most futuristic mindset, I doubt if teleportation will become a regular means of travel - the human being is simply too fragile.
Within the 35-year timeframe, I suspect air travel will remain the 1st choice between continents. But within continents, on stable tectonic plates, I foresee maglev train technology combining with pressurised hulls, travelling within low-pressure tunnels. The main advantages would be higher average speed, lower environmental impact, and lesser need for inter-modal switches (no need for massive airports on the metro outskirts, and all the logistical inefficiency it brings).

Now if you could combine teleportation with cellular rejuvenation, and make people younger with every trip, then we would have a real winner!

Wolfgang Grulke RE: Teleportation

Instant teleportation, and the promise to get younger with each trip - now that's what I call a real value proposition!
