Jay Bhalla Global Flock to the spoken web

I believe that voice interfaces are gaining strength today and will in the future. We have actually already built a system for 4.5 million farmers in Kenya www.nafis.go.ke

Voice is the post natural form of human interfac.... basically people love to talk!! Those who can build voice services for the masses will have a huge following!

Indra de Lanerolle Re: Voiceweb MindBullet

Hi, just received the mindbullet on 'voiceweb'. The article states "85% of the world's people are using the Internet". I dont think this is right. Latest International Telecommunications Union data and other data compiled on http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm gives figure of almost 24%.

Neil Jacobsohn RE: Re: Voiceweb MindBullet

This is a MindBullet - in other words, it is written as "news from the future". The dateline for this article is 2012.

Wolfgang Grulke RE: Re: Voiceweb MindBullet

Remember that the dateline on this MindBullet is 2012 - not 2009!

Also I would suggest that 'internet usage' will mushroom in the next few years as most mobile devices will access the internet - more than 60% of people on the planet already have access to a mobile phone (and those are March 2009 numbers). W

Indra de Lanerolle RE: RE: Re: Voiceweb MindBullet

dear wolfgang, As you say there seems little doubt that the reach will extend dramatically in the next few years. As I replied to Neil, as a new recruit to futureworld, I'm clearly still moving towards rather than living in the future - so please forgive my careless reading! In fact one of the reasons i might have brought the future forward in this case is that this software is already working on some nokia phones for example, and I just presented in a broadband forum in South Africa where we adopted exactly the approach the mindbullet suggests governments may start taking in 2010. best wishes, indra

Neil Jacobsohn Speak up so your device can hear!

We communicate by voice, and have done for centuries. But the promise of truly voice-activated devices remains elusive. But enormous strides are being made. Great report from MIT's Technology Review. And check out the MindBullet we wrote years ago!

Anton Musgrave India leads the way in digital financial future...where is Silicon Valley?

India talks of "Digital India"...and they mean business. With a population beyond 1 billion young people, remote villages with scrappy infrastructure they needed to focus on what will enable and empower a nation in the digital future. many threads have converged fast - from withdrawing 75% of all cash from society in a weekend to the Gov's AARDHAR program, to Jin's aggressive reduction of data rates. India has leapfrogged every other economy in terms of harnessing tech for a digital financial future - and its paperless as one would expect yet don't find even in the USA!
