Alternative Futures - 3 main factors hiding a 4th...
Posted: 26 January 2011

I could not help but notice a trend where many "future" predictions are seemingly based on technology news and releases. Whilst it is quite true that this predictive approach has been practiced for many years, it is my assertion how it remains mostly reactive, and biased.

Following technology trends is but one way of looking at an emerging future. Toffler's 1970 work, “Future Shock,” clearly identified the future trend where technology would feed upon itself, setting its own pace. It would be fair to conclude that the predictable path of technology ...

Who's watching the watchers?

For one, "claiming" that the application of this technology could be science on the one hand, then refusing the right of individuals to be free of the science, contravenes the essential ethical requirement of scientific research being "voluntary".

Therefore, the argument that this application would be "scientifically sound" could easily be refuted. Once refuted, ...

Computer brain scans in courtrooms cause angry protests
Dateline: 20 December 2015
"Not guilty, your honour" has a new ring these days. Call it the ring of truth! Ever since sophisticated brain scanning techniques were accepted as legal process in courtrooms across the world, the very idea of lying to the court has become something of the past. Well, you can lie if you want to - but the scanner will detect it immediately, and apparently with 100% accuracy. But the new ...
Wikileaks and Future Governments
Posted: 13 January 2011

Passing events, such as the Wikileaks debacle, merely serve as indicators, a barometer if you will, of where certain aspects of the world are heading into.

I think, the primary indicator for our future, in this story, is the fact that so many individuals, corporations, and I suspect some governments as well, are actively campaigning in favour of Wikileaks's proliferation against the US ...

President Sarah Palin equates WikiLeaks with Al-Qaeda
Dateline: 16 September 2013
WikiLeaks has joined the 'Axis of Evil'. The latest revelations of US military plans led to the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers. President Sarah Palin has now declared the WikiLeaks website a terrorist organization on a par with Al-Qaeda. Echoing her own Facebook page comments from 2010, President Palin said that WikiLeaks director Julian Assange is "an anti-American operative with ...

I think that IBM invented the e-gatekeeping strategy. In this case however, the envisaged supply line would be completely exposed to Network availability. In the general future, governments would own and control the national IP networks, and with it the e-commerce and e-people activities.

Governments would become the "gate keepers" of such an inflexible, global supply line, and ...

Over the past two decades we have become used to our consumer electronics being made in Asia. Even though there are ever-more disturbing reports of inhuman conditions in Asian factories, including the latest suicides and murders to cover up corrupt practices, companies such as Apple have had no alternative to producing in these low-wage economies. Yesterday, IBM announced its first venture ...
CLOBOT

Thank you for this lovely bullet. My name is Robert benjamin and my company's name is Nanograte Knowledge Technologies (nanogr8.com)

In response, I would like to coin the term "CLOBOT". a CLOBOT is a hybrid clonerobot, a mutation. I think that is where the future is really heading; straight into a mutated cyborgian universe where next generations would be spawned via dynamic ...

You can't live forever, but your avatar can - with your brain
Dateline: 23 June 2025
There's a battle brewing in the avatar industry. The battle for your mind. Your brain. Or to be more specific, the backup of your brain. The contenders are CloneME and iDroid. Both want to get you subscribed to their 'immortality' service. So you can live forever - virtually of course. You might say that 130 years is enough for one lifetime, and you know your children will live to 150, or ...
