Relationship Economies

As the Relationship Economies grow, traditional trading power shifts away from those corporations that exercise purchasing power to those who have relationship and trading influence. The benefits from a Relationship Economy become driven by the deconstruction of expensive hierarchical organisational structures and substitution of dynamic, mutually beneficial partnering enterprise. Those that have the Relationship skills (Partnering, Trust, Integrity, resource sharing) will create broad partnerships capable of delivering all a company needs from a network of likeminded organisations. This is an entirely new (in modern times) form of mutually supportive and co-operative business that creates opportunity for business returns exceeding current norms. Some businesses are already demonstrating spectacular growth against peer companies by implementing Strategic Relationship practices and switching away from internal hierarchies to manage all processes.

Achieved through partnership and alliancing up and down the supply chain but also, by driving forward with new methods and technologies that speeded up information exchange, production planning and enabled controlled implementation. In other words using technology smarts & building relationship processes that align objectives and flatten the traditional heirarchy of people that can impede progress. AN ENTREPRENEURIAL APPROACH WITHIN A CORPORATE ENVIRONMENT! The effort and committment of all the Team must be acknowledged as is is only through the recognition of common objectives and creating common vision that people and organisations can align themselves in this entrepreneurial way and eliminate personal or corporate ego. (ego generates conflict & hence wasted effort)

Companies are complex networks of people, Entrepreneurial companies are dynamic companies driven by vision ..... Relationship Companies are complex networks of Entrepreneurial People driven to deliver on common vision. In this Relationship Economy the individual must demonstrate personal skill (knowledge), personal drive (entrepreneurship), and personal networking (relationship) ... a group of such people focussed on a common objective are not a "Company", they are a Powerhouse for Change.

Wolfgang Grulke Hello Sam - you guys at Laing O'Rourke seem to have mastered the networked step-change approach to business. I heard that Heathrow's Terminal Five project will be completed early and under budget due to your excellent work - or is that just a rumour?
