Laser eyes get better

Machines that can see with laser scanning (LIDAR) have the advantage over those that use cameras, as we have discussed in this MindBullet. The biggest disadvantage of LIDAR has been cost, and they rely on bulky mechanics. Now Lumotive is using metamaterials to overcome both of those issues:
