How's this for a fascinating example of the impact of our increasingly networked world? What else could we do by sharing data from our mobile phones? There are now more than 6-billion mobile subscriptions in a world of 7-billion people, according to the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).
Already mobile phone data is being collected to help health authorities identify and respond to outbreaks of diseases. They're being used in crises like earthquakes and floors to share information about victims and rescue efforts.
