Lack of strategic thinking leads to disaster!

In an amazing case of short term thinking, probably driven by budget cuts, the world will face possible unknown calamities - and that in an era of so-called abundant communication, access to information etc. It just shows how reliant we have become on leaders really understanding the value and critical need for longer term strategic thinking! Unintended consequences will escalate and these wont be positive ones. When will leaders learn to think from the future back to the present...and then take strategic decisions informed by the ideal future state?
