US Army to train virtually

The US Army is looking to develop a Second Life-like virtual world to simulate military peacekeeping operations that will act as a training ground for soldiers. The Simulation and Technology Training Center of the Army’s research wing has posted a request for Information in which it is seeking proposals to build a complex architecture for a virtual world, supporting thousands of avatars and connections simultaneously.
