What price online privacy?

This is one of the great debates of our time - to what extent should online privacy be ensured? Is it reasonable that government agencies scour the net for signs of illegal activities? Or - as has already been demonstrated in various leaks - does this constitute an unconstitutional invasion of individual privacy?
